Mobile and Field Applications Engineer
Build applications for inspectors, crews, and responders that keep working where the signal does not.
Field software is judged in a basement, a vault, and a canyon. This role builds for inspectors, utility crews, and responders, which means offline capability, honest sync, and evidence that holds up later.
What you will do
- Build mobile and field applications that function offline and reconcile cleanly when connectivity returns.
- Design conflict handling for records edited in more than one place.
- Capture photo evidence with reliable timestamps and location, and understand why that matters in an enforcement case.
- Integrate with asset, work order, permitting, and records systems.
- Optimise for devices in gloves, sunlight, and vehicles.
- Work with field staff directly, including going out with them.
What we are looking for
- Three or more years building mobile or field applications used in production.
- Experience with offline data storage and synchronisation strategies.
- Familiarity with device capabilities: location, camera, and their accuracy limits.
- API integration experience.
- Pragmatism about battery, bandwidth, and the realities of a work truck.
- Valid driver licence and willingness to spend time in the field.
Helpful to have
- Experience with code enforcement, inspections, or public works workflows.
- GIS and spatial data experience.
- Prior work on digital evidence or chain of custody.
- Cross-platform framework experience.
Screening and eligibility
This position may require fingerprint-based background screening under the CJIS Security Policy before access to customer systems is granted. Some customer programs require United States citizenship. Eligibility is confirmed before assignment, not at application.
