Data and Security

Security Analyst

Monitor, triage, and investigate, and turn what you find into changes that stop it recurring.

Detection is only useful if someone reads it. This role is the analysis end of security work: tuning what gets collected, triaging what fires, and investigating the ones that matter, for agencies that cannot staff a watch floor of their own.

What you will do

  • Monitor and triage security alerts, and tune out the noise that trains people to ignore the console.
  • Investigate incidents and produce a timeline someone can act on and an auditor can follow.
  • Maintain detection content and logging coverage against the threats agencies actually face.
  • Run phishing simulation and awareness programmes measured by behaviour rather than attendance.
  • Support vulnerability management: prioritisation, remediation tracking, and honest reporting of what remains.
  • Contribute to incident response plans small agency teams can genuinely follow.

What we are looking for

  • Two or more years in a security operations, analyst, or incident response role.
  • Familiarity with SIEM or log platforms and with writing detections.
  • Understanding of common attack techniques and how they appear in logs.
  • Clear, factual incident writing.
  • Judgement about when to escalate.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Helpful to have

  • Public-sector or CJIS environment experience.
  • Endpoint detection and response tooling.
  • Scripting for analysis and automation.
  • Security certification.

Screening and eligibility

This position may require fingerprint-based background screening under the CJIS Security Policy before access to customer systems is granted. Some customer programs require United States citizenship. Eligibility is confirmed before assignment, not at application.
