Data and Security
GIS Developer
Build and maintain the spatial data and applications that planning, public works, utilities, and dispatch depend on.
Spatial data in local government is not a mapping hobby. Addresses drive billing, dispatch, and permits, and under Next Generation 911 the quality of that data becomes a life-safety matter. This role owns that work.
What you will do
- Build and maintain spatial datasets, including authoritative address and centreline data.
- Develop mapping applications and spatial services for internal and public use.
- Support Next Generation 911 readiness, including the data quality checks that programme requires.
- Integrate spatial data with asset management, permitting, and dispatch systems.
- Build the automation that keeps spatial data current instead of correct once.
- Produce metadata that lets someone else trust and reuse a layer.
What we are looking for
- Three or more years in GIS development or spatial data engineering.
- Fluency with a major GIS platform and its developer tooling.
- Spatial SQL and geoprocessing automation, typically in Python.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and the realisations behind them.
- Experience with address data and its many disagreements.
- Ability to explain a spatial problem to a non-spatial audience.
Helpful to have
- Next Generation 911 or public safety GIS experience.
- Utility network or asset registry work.
- Web mapping libraries and vector tile pipelines.
- Open data publication experience.
