Engineering and Infrastructure
Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Build agency cloud environments from code, with the logging, identity, and cost controls a public budget requires.
Agencies move to cloud on a fiscal year and live with the result for a decade. This role builds the landing zones, networks, and identity that everything else lands on, and does it from code so the next environment is not assembled by hand.
What you will do
- Design and build cloud landing zones with account separation, network design, and logging that survives an audit.
- Write infrastructure as code, and treat the repository as the source of truth rather than the console.
- Plan and run migrations with tested cutovers, including the rollback nobody wants to need.
- Implement identity, single sign-on, and multifactor authentication across agency systems.
- Build cost visibility and guardrails that map to the way a public budget is actually appropriated.
- Design backup and disaster recovery that has been restored from, not just configured.
What we are looking for
- Three or more years building and operating cloud infrastructure in production.
- Fluency with at least one major cloud provider and one infrastructure as code tool.
- Solid networking fundamentals: routing, DNS, TLS, and private connectivity.
- Experience with identity providers and federated access.
- Scripting in a language you would be willing to have reviewed.
- Ability to document what you built for people who will operate it without you.
Helpful to have
- Public-sector cloud experience, including FedRAMP or StateRAMP authorised services.
- Kubernetes in production.
- Experience with a data centre exit or colocation consolidation.
- Cloud certification from a major provider.
